Finalizing the list of potential Sires for Spanish Doll. Should have an update with the chosen Sire by December 15th

June 30th, 2017
Spanish Doll has been retired and is going to be our newest broodmare. She bred incredibly and now she's going to focus on producing Cal-bred stakes horses.

Spanish Doll, unlike herself, threw in a clunker. Never got going and ran far back. We're going to give her a little freshening at the track and look for something early June.

The $12,500 claimer we thought we'd clean up on came out a little disappointing. She ran a huge 2nd, closing late, but looked to be the best horse in the field late. If we had not got stuck behind a few horses on the far turn we would have made a much better run for the win. Spanish Doll earns another paycheck and added to her street credit with the McMahon Capall team. Look out for next race!

Spanish Doll ran a solid 2nd in the $40,000 Starter Allowance race and fought hard to the finish to earn the teams respect. She ran hard and we were brought to cash the 3rd place check.

Spanish Doll showed up to the barn with a little infection, snotty nose, and a warm foot (with no damn shoe to boot) We've been giving her antibiotics "sulfur" and heating/icing the foot the last week. She's feeling great and will resume track time tomorrow Feb 24th.

Bought this 4-year-old filly privately. Absolutely love how competitive she is and feel strongly she can improve under Jamey Thomas. Looks like she's a 6 to 7-furlong horse on the turf to me although she's won twice at 6f over the Poly Track. The plan is to race her throughout 2017 and then breed her in 2018. Her pedigree is exceptional. Her full sister Spanish Halo threw the 2012 older California Champion Mare Halo Dolly, winner of Multiple Graded Stakes and earned over a Million dollars. Her grandma La Lorgnette (ON) was the Sovereign Award 1985 Champion 3-Year-Old Filly who won a half-Million. I'm looking at trying to keep the Halo line (which is almost extinct) alive with a nice Saint Ballado sire. Right now Southern Image looks like a likely candidate.
