You couldn't write a better beginning to a horses career than we've experienced first hand with Cozze Kid. She's the first horse out of her unknown sire, Shanghai Kid, and out of her unraced mare Cozzekiki. We purchased her out of the Northern California Pleasanton sale. Not exactly and sale known for throwing stakes horses. But we noticed she looks athletic and she had a nice look in her eye. Jamey laid eyes on her first, James Marsden confirmed she was gorgeous and with just a few minutes until she walked into the ring, Myles McMahon confirmed the breeding was top notch. After all Shanghai Bobby was an excellent stallion. It wasn't until after the gavel had hit at $4500 that we realized it was Shanghai Kid not Shanghai Bobby, a considerably less known commodity. Sometimes you just get lucky and we did here. Cozze Kid took to training like a pro and showed she had race-horse speed right off the bat. After bullet after bullet  Jamey decided the time was right to make her first start. A MSW at Golden Gate against the boys? Well if he's that confident maybe we didn't have anything to worry about. After the gates opened we realized we had nothing to worry about and Cozze Kid blew past all horses after a slow start and cruised to a 9 length win with a hand ride. Next up....gotta pick which stakes to run her in her next start.
